The term ‘tornado boss’ should be relatively self-explanatory.
Whilst the classic image of a good boss is a pillar of stability and calm, a tornado boss whirls around the office, displacing workers and sucking them into their vortex of bluster and confusion. Often on Executive Grapevine we discuss morally or consciously poor leaders, yet the tornado boss doesn’t fall into these categories as often – their actions aren’t malicious in any way. They simply aren’t able to commit themselves to complete tasks, forward planning or enforcing their vision for the workplace.
