Workplace stress is a well-documented issue for Millennials. Long working hours – the second most severe in Europe – and high stress has already highlighted a major rise in the amount of burnout cases recorded in the UK, and whilst many employers are working to improve wellness for the younger generations within their organisations, Independent writer and PR specialist Tristen Lee claims that such moves are essentially too little too late.
Lee recently penned an article on her generation’s workplace issues for the Independent that stated: “I don't remember the last time I truly relaxed. I don't think I even know how to. Every time I try to sit stationary for any length of time, I think about what I need to do next; I obsessively rework my to-do-list for the week, cramming articles, book plots and business plans into every spare minute around the PR job I throw my absolute heart and soul into."
