In September of this year, WeWork announced that, after a lengthy PR nightmare over the unconventional leadership of CEO Adam Neumann which included making staff redundant and then hiring Run DMC to rap for them, sexual abuse scandals and debates over drug usage, the Co-Founder would step down from his role with immediate effect.
In the letter he released to WeWork staff, he said that his presence within the firm had ‘become a significant distraction’ and that it was within the ‘best interests of WeWork’ for him to leave – although he did highlight that he intended to stay on as a Non-Executive Chairman.
