How you can stretch salaries further without bleeding the bottom line

One in four UK workers say that money worries have affected their ability to do their job, according to a CIPD survey published January 20171. Financial anxiety is not just confined to low earners – one in five people earning over £45,000 a year were also found to be suffering the effects. This comes as UK workers have experienced the biggest fall in real wages among leading OECD countries – TUC analysis2 shows that between 2007 and 2015 wages in the UK fell by 10.4%. During the same period wages grew in Poland by 23%, in Germany by 14%, and in France by 11%.

Businesses are under pressure to do more with less – and added to that there is an unusually high level of uncertainty about the global economic climate. According to Bersin Deloitte’s recently published 2017 workforce predictions, there are a number of key factors that are likely to impact today’s modern workplace. One of these is the need to focus on human performance, with wellbeing becoming a critical part of HR, talent and leadership.
